We have a dishwasher!!! What’s just as incredible is we actually made a decision on what to be on the look out for, and then got it, haha.
Why Bosch: I’d known for years that if we ever bought a dishwasher it’d be a Bosch. Every time we’ve discovered that a friend had a Bosch dishwasher, we’d only ever hear high praises for them and the quality of the parts, such as the stainless steel and third racks.
I remember one time being at a close friend’s home and as I stood in the kitchen, I thought I was hearing a soft hissing of a tea kettle warming on the stove. But it turned out to be the dishwasher! I was amazed at how quiet it was, as my folk’s dishwasher always sounded like a loud Harley.
Size: If y’all also remember, I had been debating between a full-size 30″ dishwasher and slim 18″. I was pretty set on the 18″, as the 30″ was just too big. So you can imagine my delight when I accidentally stumbled in a goldilocks fashion upon a size I didn’t even know existed, and was juuuust right – 24″!
How did I not know this size existed beforehand…sheesh. ;)
Color: I knew I didn’t want stainless steel. If you follow me on instagram, you can see the whole debate y’all helped me with when it came to wall ovens and colors.
In the end of reading your great comments, it seemed to be smart to go with black appliances to get the kitchen aesthetics we were wanting.
Alright, so the dishwasher specs we were wanting was: Bosch. Black. 24″.
…and ridiculously budget-friendly.
Helloooooo, FB Marketplace and Craigslist.
Therefore late one night when I was mindlessly perusing Craigslist and saw a 24″ black Bosch dishwasher that had just been posted an hour earlier, I immediately emailed them, basically saying, “HERE! TAKE MY MONEY!!!”
It was still brand new, in-the-box, had a warranty, and was more than half off the price of a new one. It met EVERY.SINGLE.WISH.
NOTE: as I know I have discerning readers who are now a little scared and saying, “there must be something wrong with it!”, I checked and the owners had thought they needed to replace their existing dishwasher, but turned out it was a simple fix, and they waited too long to return the new one, hence…they listed it. Of course, we have yet to use it…
Karl went and picked it up the same weekend I came down with my Celiac-related flare-up. He’s a good guy. :) Just like with the crown and picture rail molding, my Mini was a champion and fit the dishwasher in its boot.
Also…one more amazing thing about this dishwasher: it has an anti-flood guard (they call it the “AquaStop”). Y’all know our previous flooding dishwasher and why this is such a brilliant little bonus!
As our kitchen planning, let alone the actual construction, will likely take another 6-12 months, we’re going to install this dishwasher where the old one was so that we can take advantage of HAVING A DISHWASHER. It’d be crazy to wait another year to use it, and man I can’t wait to have it in! We’re working on getting it installed sometime in the next 6 weeks (hopefully!).
If any of you scored a great Craigslist find for your kitchen, tell me about it in the comments! :)
Speaking still of Craigslist…you really never know what you’ll find…
Have a good weekend, y’all!

What a deal! That was a great score. I hope the install goes easily and it works like a dream. And I hope you are well and truly over your flare up.
Thanks, Barbara! I truly hope it works well too – will find out in the next few weeks! :)
Great find! And that cart so cool!
Thanks!! Isn’t that cart something else?! :)
I bought a like new Kohler Dickinson farm sink on Craigslist for $6o. The man I bought it from said his wife preferred a stainless sink. I had the same Kohler sink in my old house and missed it so score!
Awesome score for sure!!
